How can we pilot business object by Excel VBA ?

Hello everyone !

 

The titlle is pretty explicit but to completing in few words my need, I would like to pilot Busines Object XI (or deski) by a macro excel (VBA). More precisely, I need to :

 

-open a request

-refresh the datas

-extract the results in another excel document

 

Anyone has a code which allow this things ?

-ouvrir une requête

-la rafrachir

-extraire les données

 

Quelqu'un connait-il un code VBA permettant cela ?

Hi Experts,

 

Please help on how to get '*ALL' option in LOV of a prompt to select ALL values in the LOV of the object at report level by editing the SQL of the report in DESKI XI R3.

 

In BO 6.5 FC the below syntax was working but in XI R3 its not.

 

(Table.Column IN @variable('1. Select Column:') or 'ALL' in @variable('1. Select Column:') )

BusinessObjects XI 4.04 FP1 Report Conversion tool

Hi:

 

We are trying to use the Report conversion tool in BusinessObjects XI 4.04 FP1 and every time we do we get the error, Failed: Error on Web intelligence server.

I am getting this error when trying to change the connection string of a report in 3.1

 

error: "The syntax of @prompt, @variable or @script is incorrect"

FHSQL DESKI CONVERSION TO WEBI IN 3.1

Hi All,

 

Is there a solution to the this issue where fhsql will not convert to webi in 3.1.OR 4.1

Some of the  FHSQL Deski report where converted with no issue

Even thought a secure connection was created, lm still getting this -

 

"Not Converted : ABCD - Free-hand SQL connection problem"



I have done alot of research, but non of their solutions work

One solution is to create a biar file of the FHSQL deski and migrate to 4.1 using UMT,

then use RCT 4.1 to convert, but DID NOT WORK.


Please help, users are on my tail.

Cannot open document (Error: INF)

We have migrated reports from version Business Objects 6.5.1 to Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2. We have been receiving sporadic 'Cannot open document (Error: INF)' now and again whenever you open Desktop Intelligence reports using Infoview. Have any other users come across this issue using BOXI 3.1 SP2. I do not believe that this issue occurred on SP1.

 

This error is very frustrating.

 

I have browsed various forums and implemented changes which have had no effect whatsoever including the SAP Marketplace.

 

We are also receiving SetPrompts Failed errors. When a report is opened in Infoview and you refresh a report, a blank dialog appears with a red cross. if you refresh the report again then the SetPrompts Failed error appears. I have evene made changes according to article 1364437 based on this error and this has not resolved the issue.

Desktop Intelligence *.rep Files Opening In The Same Window

Hello,

 

We are running BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1, the version of the Desktop Intelligence client we are using is 12.7.1.2131.

 

A problem we have encountered is if you double-click a Desktop Intelligence document (*.rep) on a Windows 8.1 Enterprise machine, it always launches in the same instance of Desktop Intelligence that you have open.

 

However if you double-click a Desktop Intelligence document (*.rep) on a Windows 7 Enterprise computer it always opens a new instance of Desktop Intelligence.

 

Most Windows 8.1 Enterprise users want every Desktop Intelligence document to open in a new instance.

 

Is anyone able to advise what setting is controlling this behavior? I cannot see anything within 'Tools' -> 'Options', so I'm wondering if its a registry key.

Difference Between Migration and Upgradation in BO

Hi All,

 

I am very confused of the terms I have found while searching in google on Migrating the content from BO 3.1 to BO 4.0.

Some were saying migrating the content using some process and some were mentoning upgrading the version of BO using some process.

I am changing from BO 3.1 to BO 4.0. what actually we must use here. Is it Migration or Upgrading.

 

After searching I found that, if system architecture is different, then it is migration if not it is upgradation. is it correct. ?

 

Can any one give a clear vision on this.

Hi,

 

We have newly upgraded to SAP BI 4.1 and we have converted Deski report to webi report, the reports got fully converted but we still receive error  while running the report.   ORA-00980: Synonym translation is no longer valid .

DESKI REPORTS:search for some particular pattern

We have a requirement from business to search for the
occurrence of a Particular Word( “ Name of the bank “)  and get stack of the same
from all BO Reports 500+ ( not the data part which will be taken care by
database layer  but the header or any hardcoding) on Deski reports for one of the application

Is there a Smart  way of achieving this analysis
report  ?   I need to complete the analysis very quickly .

 

I have to modify the name of the bank on all the reports.

 

Please  suggest . I don’t want to take the path where each
report is manually checked  for occurrence.

Unable to create connection to Derby

I am trying to create a Universe Designer connection to Apache Derby. I have the Derby server running on localhost:1527 and I can see the database using Eclipse Data Tools and query it. But, when I attempt to create a connection using Universe Designer, I see the "Derby" option under "Connection"->"New", but when I go to test the connection, I get the following error:

 

CS: Java Class not found in classpath : org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver

 

I thought in order for a client to connect to Derby, it is supposed to use the derbynet.jar . How do I get this working?

 

Do I need to drop a jar file somewhere? I don't see a driver connections option and it looks like from the manual that the drivers are supposed to be "already" installed.

 

I am using Universe Designer 12.1.0.882

Scheduling deski report to html format fails

We're running boxi 3.1 SP4 on a Linux redhat machine. When scheduling a deski report to html format to unmanaged disk, the report stays in processing state for 10 minutes and then it goes to failed state with error "Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server" . Additionally I get the message "The scheduler component failed the object identified by <jobnumber>. The job associated with the object was unresponsive."

Scheduling to other formats works fine. I have tracing on but there's not any hint in the logfiles. The htm file and it's subdirectories are created on the temporary location /data/procSched/<name>.DesktopIntelligenceJobServer but it's not copied to the configured destination. It is not an issue with permissions, the server has write permissions to the directory.

Creating Deski report. Using date as Prompt

Hi All

 

I need to create a report using Prompt as Date range.And when i give the date as range the report should get all the rows from the db and only certian coloumns should get filtered out.

 

 

IF the Data in the DB have 5 rows

 

 

Colm1      Created_Date      Modified_date      Value           Modified_value

 

 

A              1-SEP                  10-OCT                 10                    20

B              20-APR                21- JUN                20                    30

C              2-AUG                                              30                    50

D              20-June                3-AUG                  40                    60

 

 

 

And when i give date range in the report . it should get all the rows in the report but the modified values must come only in the date range given.

if i give date range between 30-June to 30 Sep , i should get the below result.

     

Colm1      Created_Date     Modified_date      Value         Modified_value

 

 

A            1-SEP                                               10                   

B            20-APR                  21- JUN               20                    30

C            2-AUG                                              30                   

D            20-June                 3-AUG                 40                     60

 

 

Since only B & D got modified in the date range value. we the above result.

Hello,

 

I am using BOXir2 DESKI with SQL Server db. I have a report with a prompt that accepts date. In one environment it accepts dd/mm/yyyy format but the same report if imported into another environment does not run with this format. It gives me an error

Exception: DBD, [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.State: 22007

 

What has changed or what is that i need to fix this issue so that the date format for the prompt across all environment (Dev,test,Prod etc) remain the same

Prompt in dd/mm/yyyy format

Hi,

 

 

I need to accept data from user in dd/mm/yyyy format, but as of now the default format what the prompt is taking is mm/dd/yyyy.

 

Considering the prompt as 'Date from'. Kindly help me out with the code for dd/mm/yyyy.

 

As of now the query is MRK.Data.From_Date=@Prompt('Date from','D',,,).

DeskI Import from Repository not showing any reports for admin user

Hi Experts,

 

We are in BOXI R2 SP2. When we try to import a report from repository from DeskI client using administrator credential, we are not able to see any report. It was working fine till yesterday. When we tried with other user credentials who are included in Administrator group, we are able to import reports. issue is only with Administrator credential.

 

We haven't made any changes in system and we are able to see all reports in Infoview using Administrator credential. Server and client are in same patch level and things were fine till yesterday.

 

If anyone has faced a similar situation, please help us with your suggestions. your inputs would be highly appreciated.

 

I would also like to confirm if there is any change in access level for Administrator and a new user included in administrator group. I believe there is no difference in access level. But still would like to confirm the same.
